Journey with me through How to Read a Book: The Classic Guide to Intelligent Reading by Mortimer J. Adler and Charles Van Doren. This book, written in 1972, was a revised an updated version of Mortimer J. Adler’s How to Read a Book which was first published in 1948.
This book is not about how to read for fun. It’s about how to get more out of the nonfiction books and classic novels you may choose to read to educate yourself. They are talking about reading books that are challenging for you, but will stretch your intellectual horizons when you are done.
